Terms

Version 1.7 · in effect from 30 September 2026

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and BishBosh Ventures Ltd ("we", "us"), which runs Hire the Best. By creating an account you accept them, and our privacy notice.

2. What we do, and what we don't

2.1 Hire the Best is a platform where venues and event organisers ("venues") find and book hospitality and event staff ("staff"), and where staff keep a profile of their experience, checks, references and the venues that vouch for them.

2.2 We don't employ staff, and we are not a party to any arrangement between a venue and a staff member. When a venue books somebody, the arrangement is between the venue and that person.

2.3 We don't handle money. The venue and the staff member agree the rate on the booking, and the venue pays the staff member directly. Hire the Best is free to use. If we ever introduce charges, we will tell you in advance, and you will not pay anything you have not agreed to.

2.4 We don't guarantee work, or that a booked person or venue will turn up.

3. Accounts

3.1 You must be at least 18 and in the UK. While Hire the Best is in its pilot, we may limit who can join.

3.2 Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account.

3.3 What you tell us must be true, including your identity, your right to work, your qualifications and your experience.

4. Checks

4.1 Before staff can be booked, we check their identity and right to work in the UK by seeing the original document in person, and we record that check. Certificates are checked before they appear on a profile.

4.2 Our checks don't replace a venue's own legal duties. A venue that engages somebody and needs a statutory excuse under the UK right-to-work rules must carry out the checks the Home Office requires itself.

4.3 We may refuse, suspend or remove an account that fails a check, or where we have reasonable concerns about safety or honesty.

5. Bookings

5.1 A venue invites staff to a role. The invitation shows the date, times, area and pay. A booking is confirmed when the staff member accepts it. The venue's address and on-site contact are shown only once a booking is confirmed.

5.2 Rates. Each booking is made at the staff member's own rate for that role, which may be above the venue's stated budget. The venue sees this before inviting them.

5.3 Cancellations. Either side can cancel a confirmed booking in the app. A venue that cancels must give a reason, which is passed on. Cancelling late affects a staff member's reliability record. Any compensation for a cancellation is a matter between the venue and the staff member.

5.4 Standby. Somebody on standby is told if they move up and are needed.

5.5 Attendance. After a shift, the venue records whether each person attended. If it records nothing, the booking is marked completed after 7 days. A staff member can dispute a no-show, and we will review it.

6. Your profile, reviews, vouches and references

6.1 Reviews, vouches and references must be honest, based on real work together, and not abusive. We can withhold or remove any that aren't.

6.2 Your profile. What it says about your work must be true. Your photos and video must be of you or your work, must not show anybody else without their permission, and must not contain anything offensive or unlawful. We can remove anything that doesn't meet this.

6.3 References. Only ask for a reference from somebody who knows your work. If we email them, they must have agreed to be contacted. If you send a link yourself, send it only to the person you mean, and don't post it publicly. Don't ask for one from yourself or anybody you control, or give one for work that didn't happen. Confirming a link needs the person to sign in. References do not affect who is suggested for a shift.

6.4 Your public CV link. If you turn it on, anybody with the link can see the parts of your profile the privacy notice describes. You can turn it off at any time. Don't choose a link name that pretends to be somebody else, or us.

6.5 Don't use Hire the Best to harass anyone, to discriminate unlawfully, to arrange work away from the platform in order to avoid its checks, or for anything unlawful.

6.6 Report a safety concern in the app. We take reports seriously and may suspend accounts while we look into them.

7. Our liability

7.1 We provide the platform with reasonable care and skill, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free.

7.2 We aren't responsible for the conduct of venues or staff, for the work itself, or for payment between them.

7.3 Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law. Otherwise, as Hire the Best is free to use, our total liability to you is limited to £100, and we are not liable for loss of income, profit or opportunity.

8. Ending your account

You can close your account at any time, and ask us to erase your data (see the privacy notice). We may close an account that breaks these terms.

9. Changes

If we change these terms in a way that affects you, we will ask you to accept the new version before you continue.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction.
